I would advise you to use CCleaner to remove the register entires from windows. don't be surprise, if Firefox crashes due to the web site trying to find Flash that windows still think does exist. deleting the folder does not remove the window register entires.

and of course, you needed to download the uninstaller for flash 7 & 8 from them or follow the manual instructions. before adobe purchase Macromedia, the listing for shockwave was listed in add/remove as Macromedia shockwave. both seem to work just fine on my winxp/sp2 computers to uninstall them. I also see a entry for shockwave in window add/removeĪdobe Flash PLayer 9 for Flash 9 and Adobe shockwave Player for shockwave 10. however, you can either download the uninstaller at the flash web site or follow the instructions to do a manual removal on the site. If you are still using Flash 8, then this is true. just click on the entry in add/remove and it was uninstall with no problem

at least on the 4 computers that I have it install on. Flash 9 has a listing in window add/remove. As far as not being installed 'in' Firefox, the plugin was installed 'via' Firefox, without any 'normal' way for a user to uninstall it, so I still think something needs done about that from the Firefox end - at least some notification to the user that something else is being installed on your computer outside of Firefox control. Got rid of that and the Flash plugin is gone, thank goodness. So I just did a search on all files name '*flash*', sorted by date and found the c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash' folder. There was absolutely no listing of Macromedia, Shockwave or Flash anywhere in the 'Add or Remove Programs' section. I installed the most recent version of Shockwave and used this uninstaller with the /S switch (uninstaller.exe /S) and it uninstalled Shockwave Flash silently.Willkn wrote:The control panel was the first place that I looked after not seeing anything in Firefox. This tech note is for version 10 and the uninstaller file name seems to have changed from unwise.exe to uninstaller.exe at some point since then. I don't work on Shockwave and am not familiar with silent uninstall for Shockwave, however, if you're using the Shockwave MSI installer, you can use the MSI commands to uninstall it silently.įor the Shockwave Player EXE installer, I searched in the Shockwave forums and tech notes and found Find current installers for Adobe Shockwave Player which indicates that the uninstaller is saved at C:\Windows\System32\Adobe\Shockwave (C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Adobe\Shockwave on a 64-bit OS). I was going to move this post to the Adobe Shockwave Player (Read-Only) forum for someone familiar with Shockwave Player assist, however, now that Adobe has end-of-lifed Shockwave, the forum has been set to read-only.
You're posting to the Flash Player forums, which is completely separate from Shockwave Player. Shockwave and Flash Player are 2 different products.
I'm making some assumption here, however, if you provide more information on your specific use-case we can provide more detailed information specific to your use case.
If this is the case, you'll want to deploy the custom mms.cfg file when redeploying Flash Player.
#UNINSTALL SHOCKWAVE 11 UPDATE#
Note that if you have a custom mms.cfg file modifying the update options, running the standalone uninstaller will reset the update options to the default update options (notification auto-update). The embedded versions are managed by the respective browser vendors.įor more information, see the Flash Player Admin Guide

Note that the uninstaller will *not* uninstall the embedded versions of Flash Player (PPAPI for Chromium-based browsers and Flash Player ActiveX Control on Windows 8 and above for Internet Explorer/Edge). To uninstall Flash Player silently, use the standalone uninstaller with the command line -uninstall (e.g. I'm assuming you're referring to Flash Player, and not Shockwave Player
